Frequently asked questions by Belarusians about Poland
We often receive questions from Belarusian citizens about Poland on our hotline. In this article, we answer some of them: about extending the Card of the Pole, entering Poland in someone else's car, etc.
1) As a child, I was issued a Card of the Pole. Now I'm 18 and I want to extend it. How long will my Card of the Pole be extended, and where is it better to deal with this issue, in Belarus or in Poland?
Any Card of the Pole, regardless of whether it is extended or received for the first time, is issued for 10 years. If it is issued to minors, the Card is valid until they turn 19.

The Card of the Pole can be extended if its validity period is coming to an end. You can submit documents for the extension of the "children's" Card no earlier than 6 months and no later than 3 months before its expiration. Thus, after reaching adulthood, you can submit documents for the extension of the Card of the Pole no later than 18 years and 9 months.
If you haven't done this in time, it becomes impossible to extend the "children's" card. You will have to get a new Card as if you never had one, that is, go through an interview, collect documents, etc. again.
The place to submit an application for the extension of the Card of the Pole depends on your location at the time of submitting the documents:
- If you are in the Republic of Belarus, the documents are submitted at the Polish Embassy/Consulate at the place of registration (residence). You need to find out directly at the consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland whether they are currently accepting applications for the extension of the Card of the Pole.
- If you are staying in Poland, submit the documents to the voivodeship at your place of residence.
The application must be submitted in person at the Department of Foreign Citizens in the Voivodeship Office after предварительной registration (registration rules must be clarified at the office itself).
2) I want to go to Poland in my wife's car. Do I need any documents for that?
Yes, you need one. For legal entry, you must have a power of attorney in Polish for the right to use the car, notarized. Be careful: law enforcement agencies carry out checks of foreign citizens in Poland. The power of attorney may be required not only when entering Poland, but also when leaving, when moving around the country by car, or even at your place of work.
3) I want to work as a truck driver in Germany. Is the code 95 obtained in Poland suitable for this?
In theory, yes. If you received the code in one of the European countries, its validity extends to all other EU countries. The main thing is to have a notarized translation of the certificate into German. However, de facto, the employer may require you to remake the code. The further development of events depends on your actions: you can either agree with the employer's demand, or try to prove that they are wrong, or refuse and start looking for another employer.
4) What documents do Polish citizens need to come to Belarus under the visa-free regime?
- a valid passport or a document replacing it;
- health insurance (it must be valid, including in Belarus, and provide an insurance amount of at least 10,000 euros).
- vehicle insurance. Car insurance is issued after passing the Polish border at the insurance agent who works right at the Belarusian border.
Important: Polish citizens can travel throughout Belarus, as well as enter Belarus through any checkpoint (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia).
