    How to get a visa to the Czech Republic. What documents are needed for processing

    There are two types of visas issued by the Czech Embassy: Schengen and national. The difference between these types of visas lies in their scope of validity. The Schengen visa is valid for all Schengen Agreement states, while the national visa is initially valid only for the Czech Republic.

    Czech national visa for more than 90 days of residence

    Visa for more than 90 days of residence – study

    Submitted by a citizen who will study in the Czech Republic under an accredited study program in the Czech Republic or in a preparatory program of a state university for study in a specific accredited program. The maximum validity period of the visa is 180 days, the number of entries is unlimited. Personal presence of the applicant is required when submitting the application. The application is accepted free of charge. All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in original or certified copy. Documents issued within a period of not more than 180 days are accepted.

    An application for a long-term visa is accepted only if it is admissible. If the applicant does not provide all the documents required by law, the application cannot be accepted.

    The period for consideration of an application for a long-term visa for the purpose of study is 60 days from the date of submission of the application.

    The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic reserves the right to conduct an interview with the applicant (conducted at the Embassy). As a result of the interview, a record in Czech is made by a consular officer, which the applicant must sign. If you do not speak Czech, the presence of an interpreter is recommended.

    It is recommended that students, in their own interest, arrange the necessary documents and register for submission of applications as early as possible, as in the summer months, due to a large number of applicants, the period between registration and submission of the application, as well as the period for consideration of the application, increases.

    Registration in the VISAPOINT system

    Visapoint is an online system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic through which a foreigner must register to submit an application for a long-term visa.

    You can register to apply for a long-term visa on the webpage https://visapoint.eu. To complete the registration, you need to have a working internet address. Not only the specific applicant can register, but also the inviting party or another person. Registration is free of charge. Submitting a registration to apply for a visa does not guarantee that the visa will be granted.

    To apply for a visa for more than 90 days, for permanent residence or long-term stay, each applicant must be registered in the Visapoint system. Without proper registration, it will be impossible to submit documents for a visa, conduct an interview, and start the visa document review process.

    The goal of the Visapoint system is to ensure equal and fair treatment for each applicant, create uniform conditions for submitting applications, improve the efficiency of the visa process, and, importantly, create more comfortable conditions for the specific applicant.

    Visa for more than 90 days of residence - family reunion

    Submitted by an applicant who is reuniting with a relative who is in the Czech Republic for less than 15 months. The maximum validity of the visa is 180 days, the number of entries is unlimited. The passport must be valid for at least 90 days longer than the visa. When submitting the application, the personal presence of the applicant is required, except for a child under 15 years of age. On behalf of the child, the application is submitted by their parent or another legal representative. When submitting documents, a consular fee of 2,500 Czech crowns must be paid. Payment in EUR at the current exchange rate. If the visa is refused, the fee is not refunded. All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in original or a notarized copy. Documents issued no more than 180 days ago are accepted. Please keep uncertified copies separate.

    An application for a long-term visa is accepted only if it is admissible. If the applicant does not provide all the documents required by law, the application cannot be accepted.

    The period for considering an application for a long-term visa is 90 days from the date of submission of the application.

    Visa for more than 90 days of residence – entrepreneur

    The maximum validity period of the visa is 180 days, and the number of entries is not limited. The applicant must be present in person when submitting the application. When submitting the documents, a consular fee of 2,500 Czech crowns must be paid. Payment is made in euros at the exchange rate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. If the visa is refused, the fee is not refunded. All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in original or certified copy. Documents issued no more than 180 days ago are accepted. Please make sure to keep uncertified copies separate.

    Visa for more than 90 days of stay — different purpose

    Submitted by a citizen who will study in the Czech Republic in a non-accredited study program or courses in the Czech Republic. The maximum validity period of the visa is 180 days, and the number of entries is not limited. The applicant must be present in person when submitting the application. When submitting the application, a consular fee of 2500 crowns (in euros) must be paid. All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in original or certified copy. Documents issued no more than 180 days ago are accepted.

    An application for a long-term visa is accepted only if it is admissible. If the applicant does not provide all the documents required by law, the application cannot be accepted.

    The processing period for a long-term visa application with a different purpose is 90 days from the date of submission.

    Schengen visa — up to 90 days of stay

    Registration in the VISAPOINT system for applying for a short-term Schengen visa

    To submit applications for all types of visas (including short-term Schengen visa), it is necessary to register on the website https://visapoint.eu. During registration, it is necessary to distinguish between a short-term national visa (more than 90 days of stay).

During registration, you must distinguish between a short-term Schengen visa (up to 90 days of residence, or single-entry or multiple-entry) and a long-term national visa (more than 90 days of residence).

    All visa applicants must complete registration through the VISAPOINT system separately (including all family members, including children).

    After registered applicants have been accepted, in exceptional cases, unregistered applicants may be accepted (applies only to Schengen visas). Please note that this will happen in limited numbers, depending on the capacity of the visa department.

    The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Minsk does not guarantee the acceptance of visa applications from unregistered applicants. We strongly recommend that all applicants for Schengen visas make an appointment to submit documents through the VISAPOINT internet system.

    Exceptions:

    • Large cultural and sports groups (more than 8 people) applying for a Schengen visa for cultural and sports purposes, please do not register with the VISAPOINT system; an appointment will be made for them separately upon written request.
    • Tourists do not make appointments to submit applications through accredited travel companies.
    • Family members of EU citizens (spouse or financially dependent relative in the direct ascending or descending line, or such a relative of the spouse of an EU citizen) are accepted вне очереди without registration.

    VISAPOINT is an electronic system of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, through which a foreigner registers to apply for a short-term visa, long-term visa, and for a permit for long-term and permanent residence in the territory of the Czech Republic.

    The goals of the VISAPOINT system are a more transparent and fair approach of the consular department to applicants, ensuring equal conditions for applying for a Schengen visa, increasing the efficiency of the Schengen visa issuance procedure, and creating convenience for applicants.

    When registering, you must provide a valid email address. Not only the applicant, but also any person has the opportunity to register for free. Registration to submit an application does not guarantee the issuance of a visa.

    Multiple Schengen visas

    The issuance of multiple visas is regulated by Article 24 of the Visa Code, which establishes the issuance of a multiple visa if the applicant meets the following conditions:

    1. the requirement to prove its necessity, or justification of their intentions of frequent and regular trips, mainly on business trips or due to family status, and
    2. The requirement to provide evidence of one's integrity and reliability, mainly by having already used Schengen visas in accordance with the legal order, as well as proof of one's economic situation in the country of origin and one's intention to leave the territory of the member states before the visa expires.

    When applying for a multiple-entry Schengen visa, you must present copies of previous Schengen visas and border crossing stamps.

    Reminder for holders of multiple-entry Schengen visas valid for more than 180 days: Residence in the Schengen area on the basis of a Schengen visa must not exceed 90 days within any 180-day period. Visa holders are required to monitor compliance with this rule themselves, for example using the calculator http://ec.europa.eu/dgs/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/border-crossing/schengen_calculator_en.html. Violations are subject to sanctions.

    Long-term residence in the CR

    Work card

    Submitted for the purpose of working in the CR in vacancies listed on the website of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the CR (www.mspv.cz). The maximum validity period of the card is 2 years, the number of entries is unlimited. The applicant's personal presence is required when submitting the application.

    All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in original or certified copy. Documents issued within a period of not more than 180 days are accepted.

    The period for considering an application for a work card is 60 (maximum 90) days from the date of submission of the application.

    The Ministry of the Interior of the CR reserves the right to interview the applicant (conducted at the Embassy). As a result of the interview, the consular officer makes a record in Czech, which the applicant must sign. If you do not speak Czech, you need to bring an interpreter.

    Blue card

    Submitted for the purpose of working in the CR, which needs highly qualified personnel. High qualification means completed higher education or higher specialized education with a period of study of at least 3 years. The list of vacancies linked to blue cards is published on the website of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the CR (www.mspv.cz). The maximum validity period of the card is 2 years, the number of entries is unlimited. The applicant's personal presence is required when submitting the application.

    All documents must be submitted exclusively in Czech (for documents issued in other languages, a certified translation into Czech must be provided). All documents must be submitted in the original or in a certified copy. Documents with an issue date of no more than 180 days are accepted.

    The period for considering an application for a blue card is 90 days from the date of submission of the application.
