Legal work abroad for Belarusians, how to find a job without losses

    Relevance as of 01.10.2024

How to legally find work abroad?

Working abroad is a great opportunity, but it's important to follow all legal aspects to avoid trouble.

    Steps for safe employment:

      1. Employer verification. Before accepting a job, be sure to check the company and the vacancy. The best way to do this is through official sources or a recruitment agency that is licensed to place citizens abroad.

      2. Contract with the agency. If you contact a recruitment agency, be sure to sign a contract with this company. The document must specify all the obligations of the parties. According to Belarusian legislation, agencies can only charge fees after you sign an employment contract with a foreign employer. Be sure to keep all receipts in case you need to go to court if something goes wrong.

      3. Employment contract with the employer. The contract with the foreign employer must be signed before your departure. It must clearly state:

        • The name of the company and its location.
        • Terms of employment: duration of the contract, working hours, working conditions and pay, including overtime.
        • Amount of salary, bonuses and possible deductions.
        • Rights and obligations of both parties, conditions for termination of the contract.
        • Information about accommodation, meals, medical care.
        • Insurance conditions and compensation in case of injuries or illnesses at work.

Sign the contract in a language you understand and be sure to register it at the citizenship and migration department in Belarus. A legally correct document will protect you abroad.

      4. Checking the visa. You need a work visa to work abroad. Remember that it is impossible to change its status while abroad, so apply for a visa in advance. If you leave with a tourist visa, you will not be able to work legally, and this can lead to serious consequences: lack of medical care, problems with wages, and complete dependence on the employer.

      5. Notifying relatives. Tell your relatives the exact address where you will be staying and leave copies of all your documents, including your passport. Take additional copies of your documents with you.

      6. Health insurance. Before you leave, take out health insurance that will cover treatment in case of illness or accident.

      7. Stay in touch. Agree with your family how often and by what means you will be in contact. This will help prevent worries and quickly solve any possible problems.

      8. Emergency funds. Take enough money with you to return home in case of unforeseen situations.

      9. Consular registration. If you stay abroad for a long time, be sure to register for temporary consular registration at the Belarusian embassy. This will facilitate interaction with state authorities and protect your rights.

      10. Solving problems on site. If the working conditions do not meet the contract, demand immediate correction through the agency or employer. If refused, you can terminate the contract.

Working abroad can open up many opportunities, but it is important to follow all precautions to ensure your employment is safe and legal.
