Do you want to immigrate to another country and don't know what you need for that? This article will help Belarusians to get their bearings when changing their place of residence abroad.
- Find out at the citizenship and migration department at your place of residence whether you are included in the database of citizens of the Republic of Belarus, whose right to leave the Republic of Belarus is temporarily limited;
- If you have expressed a desire to permanently reside outside the Republic of Belarus, you must obtain a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus for permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus with simultaneous deregistration at your previous place of residence;
- Before registering permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus, you must:
- Fulfill tax obligations;
- Terminate the activities of an individual entrepreneur – for citizens carrying out such activities in the territory of the Republic of Belarus;
- Obtain the consent of the military commissariat to register permanent residence outside the Republic of Belarus – for conscripts;
- Fulfill alimony obligations in relation to individuals subject to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Belarus, or regulate their relations with these individuals – for citizens who, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Belarus, are obliged to support individuals subject to the jurisdiction of the Republic of Belarus;
- reimburse the expenses incurred by the state for the maintenance of children in state care – for citizens who are required by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus to reimburse such expenses;
- find out as much as possible about the country of intended departure;
- upon arrival in the country, it is necessary to register with the migration service;
- it is necessary to register with the consular office at the diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Belarus in the country of permanent residence. In the absence of a diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Belarus in the country of permanent residence – at the diplomatic mission or consular office of the Republic of Belarus in another nearest country or at the Main Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus. Before leaving, find out the addresses and phone numbers of diplomatic missions of the Republic of Belarus abroad;
- find out the tax legislation of the host country;
- find out about medical care, what kind of health insurance you will need;
- find out about the pension provision in the host country;
- study the language of the host country, as in a certain number of years you will need to take a language proficiency exam to obtain citizenship (the period varies in each country).
