Traveling to Lithuania: What You Should Know About Tourism
Personal safety rules while resting in Lithuania
Lithuania is a country in Eastern Baltic with an ancient history. Modern Lithuania offers magnificent sea resorts, historic cities abounding in medieval architecture, museums, art galleries, and theaters. The close proximity to Belarus provides a unique opportunity to take fascinating walks along the local streets, but unfortunately, you need a Schengen visa to Lithuania for this.
The Lithuanian visa gives Belarusians the right not only to visit the Lithuanian Republic itself, but also the opportunity to travel within the Schengen area, which includes most European countries. The only condition is the need to enter Schengen through the country whose embassy issued the visa, in this case Lithuania.
The Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania is often approached by citizens seeking a Lithuanian visa, wishing to relax on the Baltic coast, shop, get acquainted with the sights and local charm of the streets of Vilnius, Kaunas, Trakai, as well as travelers planning a flight to various countries of the world from Vilnius National Airport.
Lithuania is a member of the EU, and therefore Belarusians need a visa to enter Lithuania. At the moment, there is no legal way to enter Lithuania without a visa unless you have a residence permit or permanent residence in EU countries.

When planning to travel abroad, first of all:- check the validity period of your passport and the presence of marks and visas in it that allow you to leave the Republic of Belarus and enter the country you are going to;
- before leaving, make a copy of your passport and keep it separate from the original and 2-3 photographs;
- make sure that you have the necessary amount of money, a bank statement for the import of cash (if necessary), driver's license (if you plan to rent a car), return tickets, insurance policy, other documents that will help you return to the Republic of Belarus without problems;
- protect the environment, be careful with natural monuments, history, and culture;
- stock up on the medicines you need so that in case of need, you do not depend on whether they are in the first-aid kit. These can be painkillers, allergy and fever remedies, poisoning remedies, and other ailments, sunscreen, and remedies for sunburn. Remember that the simplest self-help remedies can be much more expensive abroad, and many you cannot buy without a prescription;
- to avoid trouble, it is better not to drink tap water. It is recommended to use drinking water bottled. Tourists should always remember and follow personal precautions against infectious and parasitic diseases;
- remember that you should always take into account the time of year and the conditions of the climatic zone where you intend to relax. Prolonged exposure to the sun can be not only harmful but also dangerous. If you suffer from heart disease or have high blood pressure, reduce your time on the beach. Do not neglect headgear;
- in the summer, be sure to use sunscreens with a high degree of protection from solar radiation. In the first few days of your stay, it is worth refraining from eating dishes with a lot of vegetable oil and spicy dishes;
- follow the rules of cleanliness when you are on the streets of the cities you visit. Keep in mind that in many of them there is a fine system for littering the streets. Commercial activities on the streets are prohibited everywhere;
- use taxis, avoid private carriers. Do not forget to look at the meter when you get in the car. If you rent a car, remember that in most countries it is mandatory to have an international driver's license and a credit card. You must study the traffic rules in the host country. Park only in paid parking lots or in designated areas. Do not leave any items in the car, lock the doors even for a short time;
- when in big cities, remember about the possibility of terrorist acts, hooliganism, and banditry. Do not go to dubious areas. Do not leave your things unattended, do not exchange currency with street vendors, avoid dark and deserted streets and alleys, avoid participating in street gambling and lotteries. Find out the emergency numbers - police, ambulance, Belarusian foreign institutions;
- study your insurance policy. Remember that your health insurance covers only injuries and sudden illnesses that are not chronic. If you have an exacerbation of a chronic disease during your trip, health insurance cannot help in this case. You will have to pay for treatment abroad yourself. Ski tourists should remember that insurance does not cover injuries received while skiing outside designated tracks.
