Rules for obtaining a work visa at Minsk Airport
20.01.2026
Currently, Belarus is seeing positive dynamics in the issue of labor migration: the flow of foreigners who want to work in the country is growing. To work in Belarus, foreign citizens need to obtain a work visa. Previously, we discussed how to obtain a work visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus abroad. Now we will focus on the rules for obtaining a work visa at Minsk Airport.
What actions need to be taken:
The first step is to prepare documents for obtaining a visa. The employer submits the original and a copy of the work invitation to the Department for Issues of Foreigners' Entry of the Main Consular Directorate (DIFE MCD) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus (sample available on the
MFA website). The document must be submitted at least two working days before the foreign citizen enters the Republic of Belarus. A stamp confirming its acceptance is placed on the copy of the document, which must be presented when boarding a flight to Belarus.
The second step is that the employer sends a copy of the work invitation to the foreigner. Upon arrival at Minsk Airport, the foreign citizen will need to fill out a visa application, present an insurance policy, and pay the fee. Then, a consular officer will conduct an interview with the foreigner to verify the information provided in the submitted documents. After a successful interview, the visa is stamped into the passport.
It should be noted that a work invitation does not guarantee foreigners obtaining a visa at Minsk Airport. After checking the documents and an interview by a consular officer, a final decision on issuing an entry visa is made.
Attention!
Foreigners arriving from Russia are not issued Belarusian visas. In such cases, it is necessary to submit a package of documents for visa issuance to the Belarusian Embassy in the country of residence.
The third step - after obtaining a visa, a foreign citizen can enter Belarus. Next, the employer formalizes an employment relationship with him/her, notifying the migration service.
