Latvia has introduced new rules for the entry of vehicles.
The Consulate General of Belarus in Daugavpils reported that Latvia has introduced new rules for the entry of vehicles concerning Belarusians.
Thus, starting from January 1, 2025, vehicles registered outside Latvia must be declared online before entering the country. This can be done through the portal of electronic services of the Latvian Road Safety Administration (CSDD) — e.csdd.lv.
This does not apply to cars from the EU, the European Economic Area, and Switzerland.
It is informed that this requirement does not apply to vehicles that belong to or are owned by a person enjoying immunities and privileges in accordance with international law binding on Latvia.
Also, this does not apply to those cars that belong to or are owned by a person going on a short trip, including transit, to perform official functions or to provide technical support to a Latvian or foreign diplomatic or consular mission or an international organization.
The message states that for using an undeclared vehicle in road traffic in Latvia, its driver may be fined from 55 to 140 euros.
By the way, within a few days in mid-July 2024, Latvia and Lithuania imposed a ban on the entry of passenger cars with Belarusian license plates.
