Brest schoolchildren have developed visual novels about human trafficking. Shall we play?

    29.05.2024
A visual novel is a genre of video games in the form of images with text, with the help of which the entire plot is told to the player. Often in such games, you can make choices that will determine the ending.

The novels were developed as part of a video game creation competition from the Businesswomen's Club, the iTeen Academy educational center and the International Organization for Migration in Belarus. Pupils from three Brest schools participated in the competition. They created all the novels themselves from scratch in Figma. In the plot of the games, the guys covered several topics: labor slavery, extortion of intimate photos from minors, and the involvement of minors in drug trafficking.

Such jobs enable children to learn in a non-boring way how to deal with intruders (for example, those who try to recruit children into slavery or force them to send intimate photos) and not become victims of such crimes, as well as who to turn to for help in such a situation. And, of course, such games help to remove the stigma of shame from such topics: there is no need to blame yourself and be shy to seek help from adults, because only the perpetrator himself is always responsible for the crime, not his victims.

Short stories by students of secondary school No. 9 named after A.F. Naganov were recognized as the best. The guys have prepared two visual novels: one about the distribution of nude photos of a minor, and the second about labor slavery in Turkey.

QR codes with these novels have been posted in schools and other educational institutions so that any child can go through them and find out who to contact in such difficult situations.
