Privalka is closing — the Lithuanian government has approved the closure of two more border checkpoints

    21.02.2024
The Cabinet of Ministers of Lithuania has approved the Interior Ministry's proposal to stop traffic through two checkpoints on the border with Belarus.

The decision comes into effect on March 1 of this year. The border crossing near Grodno "Privalka" — "Raygardas", as well as the checkpoint "Kotlovka" — "Lavorishkes" in the Ostrovetsky district of the Grodno region are being closed. Crossings are closed not only for vehicles, but also for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Lithuanian authorities claim that these measures are being taken in the interests of national security.

As a result, only two checkpoints remain open on the border with Lithuania. These are the "Stone Log" — "Medininkai" in the Oshmyansky district and "Benyakoni" — "Shalchininkai" in Voronovsky. But here they impose a ban on cyclists and pedestrians moving across the border.

How to cross the border from Grodno

Our city will suffer the most from the closure. To get into the European Union, there are three options left:

       — Brest. It is 240 kilometers from Grodno

       — Beniaconi. From Grodno 155 kilometers

       — Stone Log. It is 230 kilometers from Grodno
