Iran has introduced a visa-free regime for citizens of 33 states, including Belarus, said Iran's Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, Ezzatollah Zargami, reports the IRNA agency.
Also on the list of countries approved to participate in Iran's new visa-free program are India, Russia (for group visits), the UAE, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Japan and others.
Thus, the Islamic Republic is going to stimulate the development of tourism.
According to Iranian authorities, the number of foreign tourists who visited the country in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (since March 21) reached 4.4 million, which is almost 50% more than last year's figure.
Earlier, the Iranian air carrier reported that it would launch a direct flight from Tehran to Minsk in March 2023, but this never happened. Belavia flew to Iran until 2018, but the flights were discontinued.
