The Russian government adopted a proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation to open a consulate general of Belarus in Yekaterinburg, the decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
"To accept the proposal of the Russian Foreign Ministry to open the Consulate General of the Republic of Belarus in Yekaterinburg," the document says, which was posted on the portal of official publication of legal acts.
The consular district will include the territories of the Perm Region, Kurgan, Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions, Khanty-Mansi and Yamalo-Nenets autonomous districts.
The decree recommends that the government of the Sverdlovsk region allocate office and residential premises in Yekaterinburg for the Belarusian consulate general — for rent or purchase, as well as to assist in resolving other issues.
Previously, the Belarusian embassy was represented by a branch in Yekaterinburg.
Recall that earlier this year, the Consulate General of Belarus opened in St. Petersburg, where until then there was also only a branch.
