New format: how migrants will take the citizenship exam in Belarus

In Belarus, a new law on citizenship came into force on July 11, according to which foreigners wishing to obtain a Belarusian passport must take a language exam in a new format.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus have approved instructions on the procedure for taking the exam for individuals applying for Belarusian citizenship, the corresponding document No. 138/9 dated June 22 was published on the National Legal Internet Portal on Thursday.
Foreigners will take one of the state languages of our country — Belarusian or Russian. The knowledge necessary for communication will be assessed by officials of internal affairs bodies or diplomatic service.

Questions for the tests and answer options must be updated at least once every five years.
If a foreigner, due to illness or physical disabilities, cannot independently complete and sign the test, an official conducting the testing will do it for him. In this case, a note "Completed on the words of the applicant" is made, indicating the position of the employee, surname, and initials.
Testing results are considered unsatisfactory if the number of correct answers in the test is less than 60%.
The new law on citizenship came into force in Belarus on July 11.
