Bulgaria is not a member of the Schengen area, but entry to the country is allowed with a Schengen, Cypriot or Romanian visa.
The Bulgarian authorities have changed the entry requirements for foreigners with Schengen visas, as well as visas issued in Romania, Croatia and Cyprus.
Bulgaria is not a member of the Schengen area, but applies a visa-free regime for holders of valid multiple-entry "shengens".
According to the decision of the country's authorities, published on the official government portal "Rustaven Vestnik", now those Schengen holders who have previously used their visas at least once to enter the Schengen area will be able to enter the country.
Citizens with national visas issued by Romania, Croatia and Cyprus now also first need to visit the country that issued it.
Holders of already "open" visas have the right to enter and reside in Bulgaria for no more than 90 days during any 180-day period from the date of first entry without having to obtain a Bulgarian short-term visa.
At the same time, Bulgarian visas do not grant the right to enter the Schengen area.
Earlier, the Czech government extended the ban on issuing visas and long-term residence permits to Belarusians and Russians until March 31, 2024.
