Frequently asked questions from citizens of Ukraine: entry to Belarus, legalization, assistance
31.03.2023
Recently, the hotline has been receiving many questions from Ukrainian citizens about their stay in Belarus. We analyze the most common of them.
1) Do I need to translate my internal passport from Ukrainian to issue a bank card in Belarus?
Yes, mostly banks require a passport translation from Ukrainian into Belarusian or Russian, as well as notarization, to issue a card. Translation and notarization can be done free of charge through the consultants of the International Organization for Migration in Belarus for assistance to Ukrainian refugees, or for a fee at any translation agency and notary office.

You can find out the contacts of the consultants of the International Organization for Migration in your region of residence by contacting the hotline.:

113, free code-free calls from landlines in the territory of the Republic of Belarus.
Also, in order to issue a bank card in Belarus to a citizen of Ukraine, some banks require registration in the Republic of Belarus.
2) How can a citizen of Ukraine be legalized in Belarus?
Citizens of Ukraine have the right to stay in the territory of the Republic of Belarus for 30 days without registration. If a citizen of Ukraine plans to stay in the country for longer than this period, it is
very important to register in Belarus BEFORE the expiration of these 30 days from the date of entry. You need to register at the
territorial division for citizenship and migration at your place of residence.
3) Are Ukrainian citizens provided with temporary housing in Belarus?
Yes, citizens of Ukraine are provided with free temporary housing by the International Organization for Migration in Belarus and the Belarusian Red Cross.
4) Is it possible for a citizen of Ukraine to get a job in Belarus without a residence permit?
Yes, you can. To work in Belarus, Ukrainian citizens do not need a residence permit, they need a special permit (issued by the employer) and an employment contract. On the basis of an employment contract, you can arrange temporary residence, which is issued for the duration of this contract. The refusal of a citizen of Ukraine to find employment on the grounds that he does not have a residence permit is groundless.
For information on this issue, you can also contact the hotline of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus: 8017 218 52 68 from 9.00 to 18.00 Monday – Friday.
5) Does the gender of a citizen of Ukraine matter when crossing the border of Belarus?
There are no such restrictions, however, in each specific case, based on your purpose of entry to Belarus and the availability of documents, the Belarusian border guards decide whether or not to allow Ukrainian citizens to enter. The possibility of entering Belarus is decided directly at the Belarusian border.
