For many years, China has maintained friendly relations with Belarus and remains a popular destination for working abroad. In this article, we will look at the most important issues related to obtaining a work visa to the People's Republic of China.
Can Belarusians work in China without a work visa?
No, such work would be considered illegal. The laws in China are extremely strict: for illegal work in the country, you can be fined from 5,000 yuan (from 2,000 Belarusian rubles) to 20,000 yuan (up to 8,180 Belarusian rubles). If the violation of the law by an illegally working foreigner is very serious, then in addition to the fine, they can even be detained for a period of 5 to 15 days. In addition, you will not be able to receive medical care and other social services that the People's Republic of China could provide to a legally working foreigner.
What needs to be done before starting to collect documents?
Before obtaining a work visa to China, you must find an employer from this country who will be willing to hire you. To work in China, you will most likely be applying for a Z visa, but in addition to it, there is also an R visa. It is issued in special cases when a specialist has exceptional professional abilities in the most demanded fields in China. In this article, we will tell you what is needed to obtain a Z visa.
What documents are required?
To apply for a work visa to China, you need to contact the Chinese Embassy in Belarus with the following documents:
1. Passport and photocopies of pages with personal data and photo. Please note that it must have space for visa stamping, and its validity period must be more than six months.
2. Visa application form (you can fill it out using this link) with a photo. Before filling out the form, read the instructions on the specified website carefully. Photo requirements can be found in the form on the website. After filling out the form, make an appointment for a visa interview.
3. If you are applying for a visa from a country where you are not a citizen, you will need the original and a copy of proof of legal stay or residence in that country / residence permit / documents confirming that you are working or studying in the country / other documents confirming your legal residence in the country.
4. If you previously had Chinese citizenship and then obtained citizenship of another country, you will need your previous Chinese passport and photocopies of pages with personal data and photo.
If you previously received any Chinese visas but have a new passport, you will need: a copy of the page with personal data and photo from your previous passport and copies of pages with Chinese visas in it. If your name in the new and old passports is different, you will also need a document confirming the name change.
5. Work permit. The exact document will depend on how and for whom you will be working in China. It can be:
• Work permit for a foreigner in the PRC. It can be obtained from the Ministry of Labor Resources and Social Security;
• Work permit for a foreign specialist. Issued by the State Administration for Foreign Experts Affairs;
• Certificate of registration of a permanent representation of an organization from another country (region). Issued by the Chinese administrative body responsible for industry and trade;
• A document authorizing commercial activities. It is issued by Chinese authorities that handle cultural affairs;
• An invitation to conduct offshore oil operations in China. It can be issued by the China National Offshore Oil Corporation.
No later than 30 days after arriving in China on this visa, you will need to register your residence. This is done at the entry/exit department of the local public security authorities.
