Poland is ready to completely close traffic across the border with Belarus if security concerns require it. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic Pavel Yablonsky on Tuesday, February 21, on Polish Radio.
"If there is such a need, especially motivated by security issues, then we are definitely ready. But we will continue to analyze the situation as events develop," Jablonski said, answering a question about whether Poland is ready to completely close the border.
He also noted that decisions on closing the border are not made solely based on political motives. According to the Polish deputy minister, the country's leadership understands that there are carriers and goods that need to be transported across the border.
"But if an analysis of the situation shows that the security threat is growing, then such a decision can be made," Yablonsky said.
The day before, Warsaw notified Minsk that from February 21 it would ban the movement of trucks at the last checkpoint for trucks "Kukuryki" (from the Belarusian side — "Kozlovichi"), with the exception of those registered in the European Union and the European Free Trade Association.
