Compared to 2019, the quota this year has increased by 15 times, and next year it will be even higher.
Russia and Belarus have a strategic relationship. Educational projects are among the priorities. In 2023, even more students from Belarus will be able to study at leading Russian universities at the expense of the federal budget. This was announced by Yuri Makushin, the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Belarus, at the Sputnik Belarus multimedia press center.
He noted that the quota for talented Belarusian youth is increasing every year.
"If we talk about the dynamics, then, for example, in 2019, we are talking about the quota of the Russian Federation government for applicants from Belarus, it was 73 places. In 2020, 230 places were allocated, in 2021 — 700, in 2022 — 1100 places, respectively," Makushin said.
The speaker noted that, based on the number of applications, applied mathematics is the most popular among Belarusian youth. Medicine is in second place, and management is in third. Among the most popular universities that applicants indicated as priorities are St. Petersburg State University, the Higher School of Economics, and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
"In 2023, the quota for Belarusian youth to study at Russian universities will be increased. It will be 1300 people," Makushin said.
He also added that graduates can enter prestigious Russian universities based on the results of Olympiads and competitions.
