    How to check an employer when going to work in another country?

    28.10.2022
       We often receive requests from citizens to check foreign companies that offer them employment. However, we inform you that we cannot check companies located outside our country! But we can advise you on the correct procedure for hiring. Since the most common option is working in Russia, let's look at the general rules for employment of citizens of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation.

       Save these rules and share with friends who are planning to leave:

       1. You must be provided with an employment contract that describes all the conditions, namely:

       - the duration of the contract;

       - the nature and place of work;

       - working hours;

       - the amount of pay, including payment for weekends and holidays, night and overtime work, bonuses, allowances, deductions, and professional development;

       - there will also be consideration of the procedure for compensating harm to health caused to you as an employee directly during the work process;

       - information about the employer and their location must be provided;

       - if you find a job that also provides accommodation, the contract will also specify the place of residence and meals, i.e., who bears the expenses;

       - the issue of medical care. Since January 1, 2017, according to the Treaty on the Creation of the EAEU, working Belarusians (including those temporarily staying) can obtain a compulsory medical insurance policy for free and visit state clinics for free along with Russians.

       To apply for the policy, you need the following documents:

       - passport,

       - a copy of the employment contract,

       - insurance policy number SNILS,

       - a copy of registration at the place of stay/residence.

       If any of the above documents are missing, obtaining compulsory health insurance is impossible, and accordingly, medical services will be paid.

       The agreement is concluded in writing in two copies.

       2. If you are Belarusian and applying for a job in Russia, in addition to the documents required for employment, you will need to provide a document confirming the legality of your stay in Russia. Such a document may be a migration registration document.

       Let us remind you that Belarusians can stay in Russia without registering for up to 90 days from the date of entry. They must register before the expiration of this period. The period of temporary residence is determined by the duration of the employment contract. If the contract is concluded for an indefinite period, the period of temporary residence is issued for one year and extended annually.

       Thus, to confirm the legality of your stay in Russia, you will need to provide either a migration registration document or a document confirming entry into Russia less than 90 days ago (for example, a travel ticket).

       3. General rules: inform your relatives about your departure for work, leave the exact address of your planned stay and copies of all documents, including a copy of your passport, take an extra copy of all documents in case the original is lost or stolen, agree with your friends and family on when and how you will let them know about your affairs, take a certain amount of money, at least for transportation expenses for a possible return home.

       We hope this information was useful to you.
