Forensic experts from the Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee in the Brest region spoke about how to avoid unpleasant situations when crossing the state border. When packing for a trip, a first-aid kit is often added to the luggage. Also quite often, returning from a business trip or trip home, people buy medicines abroad without thinking about whether they can be transported across the state border.
For example, recently at the republican customs clearance point "Varshavsky Bridge", employees of the Brest customs found and confiscated five tubes of medicine from a resident of Brest, which the man was bringing from the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Belarus. The medicine was sent to the Department of the State Forensic Examination Committee in the Brest region for forensic examination of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, their analogues and precursors, and potent substances.
According to the conclusions of the forensic expert, the liquids provided for research contain a dangerous psychotropic substance - diazepam. "Such cases, unfortunately, are not isolated. Our citizens, for the most part, unknowingly buy cough and cold medicines abroad. In Poland, for example, certain drugs are freely available, but they contain substances that are controlled in Belarus," says Lieutenant Colonel of Justice Sergei Lyashuk, deputy head of the Department of Special Examinations of the State Committee for Forensic Examinations in the Brest region.
As Sergei Anatolyevich notes, a person planning to purchase a medicine in pharmacies in other countries should remember that the name of the medicine does not always coincide with the name of the active substance contained in it. Therefore, when planning to purchase medicines abroad, you should make sure that they do not contain substances from the list of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors subject to state control in the Republic of Belarus. The republican list of such substances is freely available on the Internet.
