A website has appeared in Belarus that protects children from bullying and grooming.

    18.11.2019
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and UNICEF have launched a website kids.pomogut.by , where children are told what grooming, bullying is, and what to do if they receive a questionable message on the Internet.

The project was launched in Belarus last fall pomogut.by , the purpose of which is to change the approach to the prevention and prevention of drug addiction. The resource, they say in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has become quite popular among those who use drugs and their loved ones. It is visited by about a thousand unique users per month. The site now has a children's branch — kids.pomogut.by . Her task is to protect children from bullying, grooming, and pedophilia online.

       — The threat of pedophilia associated with the use of the Internet is especially high now, — says Gennady Kazakevich, head of the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. — There are even instructions for pedophiles on the Web, which describe how to behave with a child and gain his trust. This creates a special difficulty in detecting and suppressing this type of crime.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from 2012 to 2018, the number of revealed facts of pedophilia increased 22 times — from 38 to 831. At the same time, the number of children who have suffered from the activities of pedophiles has increased more than 5 times over the past five years. In 2018, there are 609 boys and girls.

The police also receive statements regarding bullying of children on the Internet.

       — However, the paradox is that there is no article in national legislation that would impose responsibility for this type of violence, — Gennady Kazakevich describes the situation. — Although we understand that with the development of the Internet, this problem has become very relevant. The Ministry of Internal Affairs has taken the initiative to criminalize crimes against children on the Internet. This is not only bullying, but also grooming — sexting, sexting.

The initiative, the source explains, is under development.

As for the website kids.pomogut.by As Gennady Kazakevich says, this is a unique project. It has its own content for kids of all ages.

In parallel with the useful articles, help numbers are listed here — 8 801 100-16-11 (around the clock) or 8 801 201-55-55 (from 8.00 to 20.00). They are for children who have suffered from online violence, as well as for their parents and witnesses. By contacting these numbers, victims can receive psychological, legal and informational assistance. It's free and anonymous.
