On May 29, Belarusian and Russian border guards detained five foreigners at a parking lot near the Moscow — Brest highway. It is believed that four of them wanted to illegally enter Europe, while one was assisting them. The State Border Committee reports the details.
The detention took place at a rest stop near the highway in the Smolevichi district. Four foreigners, citizens of Afghanistan and India, were pulled out of a Toyota Camry.
A 52-year-old Russian, originally from Georgia, acted as the carrier. It is believed that members of an international criminal group wanted to illegally smuggle migrants into Lithuania.
A criminal case has been initiated for organizing illegal migration, and the suspects face 3 to 7 years in prison. All suspects are currently being sought.
The Afghan citizens have been processed as border and stay rule violators and will be deported with a ban on entering Belarus for 5 years. Protocols are being drawn up for the Indian citizens for violating the rules of stay.
