    Прививка от кори за месяц, от желтой лихорадки — минимум за 10 дней. Советы врачей перед отпуском

    29.05.2018
       There are only a few days left until summer. Many people are already planning their vacations. Doctors advise those who are going to rest in Ukraine, Italy, Greece, France, Romania, and Serbia to get vaccinated against measles before their trip.

       The situation with measles remains unfavorable in these regions. Epidemiologists say that more than 16 thousand cases of measles have been recorded in Ukraine since the beginning of the year, several thousand in France and Greece, and about a thousand in Italy. There are precedents in Georgia, Serbia, and Albania.

       — This does not mean that you should not go to these countries, — clarifies Irina Glinkina, deputy chief physician of the Republican Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology, and Public Health. — There is no ban on traveling, but you need to take a number of preventive measures.

       One of them is vaccination. Before your trip, the specialist says, it is better to check if you have been vaccinated against measles before. You can find out at the clinic in your area. If there is no such information, get vaccinated. It is best to get the measles vaccine one month before departure. It is possible to do it later, but it is not a fact that it will start working during your vacation.

       — Every year we face the fact that people remember about vaccinations a day or two before departure, — says Irina Glinkina. — It is possible to get vaccinated during this period, but for most vaccines, protection will be formed in three to four weeks. And if the vaccine, for example, is for tick-borne encephalitis, even more time is needed.

       The yellow fever vaccine, without which you will not be allowed into some countries, must be given no later than 10 days before departure. In Minsk, it is given only at the 19th clinic with a referral from an infectious disease specialist from the clinic in your area.

       Epidemiologists warn: any immunobiological drug, including the measles vaccine, can cause reactions. For example, on the third to sixth day, a slight increase in temperature.

       — As a rule, this happens to a small number of people, — says Irina Glinkina. — But even a slight increase in temperature is not very good on the road.

       While on vacation in a hot country, experts advise:

    — avoid contact with animals. If an animal attacks, wash the bite, scratch, or saliva site with soap and water and see a doctor;
    — use repellents;
    — drink bottled water, use it to wash vegetables and fruits;
    — if you cannot wash your hands after returning from the street or before eating, use wet гигиенические wipes;
    — do not swallow water in the pool, swim only in water bodies recommended by the tour operator.
