Выявляемость преступлений в сфере насилия над детьми выросла в 15 раз

    22.05.2018
The detection rate of crimes in the field of child abuse has increased 15 times. This was stated by Interior Minister Igor Shunevich on the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

"The detection rate of crimes in the field of violence against children has increased 15 times over the past few years. The latency level of this crime remains high today," Igor Shunevich said.

In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has taken the initiative to prepare and adopt a roadmap to combat pedophilia. "We want to create a comprehensive document that would allow the entire state to respond appropriately, identify, stop, prevent and protect potential victims from this threat," the Interior Minister informed.

According to him, this threat exists today - anyone can turn out to be a pedophile: a doctor, janitor, teacher, etc. "A comprehensive document will involve measures aimed at early prevention, detection of crimes, protection of victims, their rehabilitation, and so on. We are not talking about resorting to chemical castration of pedophiles, as in some countries, criminal liability is also enough. But we would like to draw the attention of those departments in the state that can and should help us in this matter. An appropriate roadmap will be prepared for this purpose," concluded Igor Shunevich.
