How can Belarusians receive medical care in Russia?
Getting sick in another country is very unpleasant, especially if you don't know what the law says about such cases: whether assistance is provided free of charge or for a fee, whether free emergency care is provided, what documents are needed. In this material, we explain on what grounds Belarusians can receive medical treatment in Russia and vice versa, what Russians need to do to receive medical treatment in Belarus.
Medical care for Russians in Belarus

According to the law, citizens of the Russian Federation who have a residence permit in Belarus have the right to receive free medical treatment in state Belarusian district clinics on an equal basis with Belarusians. Emergency medical care is also provided free of charge even in the absence of a residence permit, and a residence permit is not required to receive emergency care in case of socially dangerous diseases (such as tuberculosis, plague, cholera, anthrax, etc.) among citizens of the Russian Federation. However, planned medical care cannot be obtained for free by Russians without a residence permit.
If a Russian citizen is officially employed by a Belarusian organization, he or she also has the same rights to medical treatment in state healthcare institutions of the Republic of Belarus as Belarusians, it is only necessary to provide a copy of the employment contract and registration at the place of residence.
Medical care for Belarusians in Russia
The rules for medical care regarding Belarusians in Russia are the same as those that apply to Russians in Belarus.
Belarusians who are officially employed in the Russian Federation, regardless of whether they have a residence permit, have the right to receive a free compulsory medical insurance policy (MHI) and to receive free medical treatment in state clinics. If emergency care is needed, then free assistance will be provided even without MHI. Policies are now electronic, and you can apply for one by writing an application to any convenient insurance medical company that operates in the field of compulsory health insurance.
To apply for an MHI policy, you will need the following:
1) passport;
2) copy of the employment contract;
3) the account number in the compulsory pension insurance system (SNILS);
4) a copy of registration at the place of stay.
Without these documents, Belarusians will not be able to obtain a compulsory medical insurance policy and, accordingly, will be forced to pay for medical treatment in Russia.
