How to prepare for admission step by step
1. Choose a specialty and place of study;
2. Estimate the cost of tuition and look for additional funding opportunities (scholarships);
3. Prepare the necessary documents (including certificates confirming language proficiency);
4. Send the documents;
5. Apply for a visa.
Usually, the choice of university begins with choosing a specialty and looking at the rankings of universities that offer it. The most popular rankings are The World University Rankings and U.S. News & World Report. There you can choose a university that meets your request.
After that, it is worth checking how much money will be spent on tuition and add the cost of living in the chosen city. Often this amount is almost equal to the cost of tuition per year. At this stage, it is also worth looking for additional funding opportunities that can cover part of the expenses for tuition or accommodation. After that, you can start preparing the documents. Admitted students advise starting the admission preparation process 1.5-1 years in advance so as not to miss anything and minimize stress.

Visas can be issued up to 120 days before the start date of the course, but you will not be allowed to enter the United States on a student visa more than 30 days before the start of your studies.
What documents are needed to apply for a master's degree
As in other countries, in the USA, to be admitted to a master's program, you need to have a university diploma (bachelor's degree). In addition, you need to provide:
- Confirmation of English language proficiency at the appropriate level (most likely, it will be a TOEFL or IELTS certificate);
- A brief description of the research you intend to conduct while studying in the master's program. It's also better to prepare a list of literature that will be useful to you.
- GRE / GMAT scores (if required by the university);
- An essay describing your goals and personal motives for studying in this course and major, why you decided to develop in this direction.
- Letters of recommendation (personal and academic).
Documents are usually submitted to several universities, and in case of multiple positive responses, the applicant chooses the most suitable one. An important stage is obtaining a visa – give it due attention, despite the emotions from a positive response from the university. When applying for a student visa, you will have to prove your solvency for at least a year. The calculation of the amount that you did at the stage of choosing a city and university will come in handy here. Keep in mind, the embassy may request a bank statement.
