From June 21 to June 30, 2019, the Republic of Belarus will host the II European Games. The largest continental multi-sport forum is an additional opportunity to open up Belarus to foreigners and earn money. It is obvious that a large influx of tourists will arrive in the country. Surely, many of them are wondering: "How to get to the Games without any problems?" Since June 10, a visa-free regime has been in effect for guests of the II European Games. Who can use it?
условно, guests of the European Games can be divided into two groups:
1. Organizers and athletes. They enter Belarus without a visa using accreditation cards through any checkpoint: road, airport, railway. From May 20 to July 10 inclusive, they have the right to cross the Belarusian border an unlimited number of times.
2. Fans. Representatives of Australia, Austria, Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Vanuatu, Vatican City, Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Hungary, Vietnam, Haiti, Gambia, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Dominica, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Iceland, Spain, Italy, Canada, Cyprus, China, Korea, Kuwait, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Micronesia, Monaco, Namibia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Samoa, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Uruguay, Finland, France, Czech Republic, Chile, Switzerland, Sweden, El Salvador, Estonia, Japan can come to Belarus under the sports visa-free regime. From June 10 to July 10, 2019, entry into Belarus is open for citizens of these countries through any checkpoint. It is enough to show your passport, insurance and ticket to the competition of the multi-sport forum.
What to do if there is no ticket?
From the named 74 countries, it is possible to come under the game visa-free regime even without a pre-purchased ticket. But then it will be possible to cross the border of Belarus only through Minsk airport. If you want to go through other checkpoints, take care of purchasing a ticket in advance.
Is it possible to pass the checkpoint out of turn?
At the checkpoints, guests of the Second European Games should pay attention to special markings and signs. They will allow you to drive through separate corridors.
The cabins for registering tourists will also be marked with the symbolism of the II European Games. Guests of the Second European Games arriving by car are exempt from paying for road use. And athletes and organizers are exempt from obtaining health insurance.
Does the usual 30-day visa-free regime operate in parallel with the games one?
When crossing the border, tourists must clearly indicate which visa-free regime they are visiting Belarus under:
- With a ticket to the European Games. It allows you to stay in Belarus until July 10 inclusive. You will be allowed into Belarus with a Games ticket only once. If the ticket is expired, entry will be refused.
- Under the usual 30-day visa-free regime. The countdown of days starts from the date of entry into Belarus through Minsk National Airport. Arriving in this way, remember that you will have to leave the country in the same way — through the airport.
Where can I withdraw cash from my card?
Most Belarusian banks do not charge a fee when withdrawing money from an ATM. However, if you withdraw money in foreign currency, be prepared for some amount to be deducted from your account. Please note that many ATMs set a limit on the amount you can withdraw in a single transaction. Need a larger amount? Go to the cashier. If the amount is available, it will be issued at once. But you will have to pay a commission.
Is registration required?
Foreigners arriving in the Republic of Belarus must register at their actual temporary place of stay. This must be done within 5 days, excluding holidays and weekends. The procedure can be carried out at the departments of citizenship and migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or independently — on the Single Portal of Electronic Services. When staying in hotels, hostels, and sanatoriums, registration of foreign citizens is carried out by default upon check-in.
What should foreigners do when transiting through Russia?
Tourists transiting through Russia must authorize themselves as guests of the II European Games on the website of the official ticketing operator www.ticketpro.by. If a foreigner has crossed the Belarusian border and wants to leave through Russia, they must take the same actions: log in to the website, fill out the form for departure from Russia to a third country.
