Aiming for Berlin! Or how to immigrate to Germany?
Everyone dreams of living in a country with a high standard of living and social well-being. Every year, hundreds of Belarusians leave their hometowns and set off to conquer Europe. They place special hopes on Germany. If you have a strong intention to settle here, then this article is for you. To become a candidate for permanent residence, you first need to obtain a residence permit. And what exactly are the legal ways to migrate to Germany, experts from the NGO «Business Women's Club» of the hotline
113; 8-801-201-5555 for safe departure and stay abroad will explain.
Business. This method is suitable for businessmen who are ready to invest in the German economy. It is not difficult for a foreigner to start a business in Germany: there are no restrictions on the amount of investment and the number of new jobs. A large businessman and private entrepreneurs will need to coordinate the investment project and business plan with the local authorities. They will check the legality of the invested capital, consider the value and innovativeness of the business idea, and give preference to those who can make the maximum contribution to the German economy. The residence permit will be canceled if the company turns out to be ineffective and its immigrant owner violates German law. After 5 years of legal and successful work, there are chances to get permanent residence. 8 years after receiving permanent residence, you can become a citizen of Germany.
Education. First, potential students are issued a student visa for up to 5 years. Within a year and a half after graduation, you can get a residence permit to look for work in your specialty, and then a residence permit for work or developing your own business. To get permanent residence, foreign graduates of German universities need to work in Germany for 24 months.
Family reunion involves marrying a German citizen or having parents or children living in Germany. German laws strictly dictate the requirements for a relative living in Germany. He must not have a criminal record and have a regular income to provide for the cost of living, housing, and health insurance. It is also important to have a compelling argument as to why the relative should be in the family living in Germany: illness, caregiving, household management, childcare.
Work.
To find employment in Germany, you need to know the German language. Even if you speak English, you will still have to learn the state language. You will also need to obtain a work visa. For this, you first need to find
work in Germany, pass an interview, and sign a personal contract and employment agreement with a German employer.
First, you will receive a national visa for 3-6 months. Upon arrival, you should exchange it for a residence permit. The residence permit is issued for exactly the duration of the work contract. If the contract is indefinite, it is issued for 2 years. After this period and if you still have a job, the visa is extended for another 2 years, and so on up to 5 years. After that, you can request permanent residence in Germany.

In the first 3 years, a work visa holder cannot change employers. So if you do not pass the probation period, you will not be able to change jobs. After three years, the work visa can be exchanged for a regular residence permit, no longer tied to a specific employer.
If you lose your job, you need to find another one and change your visa, otherwise it will become invalid. The requirements are much softer for people with higher education. Permanent residence can be obtained in certain conditions after just 2 years. Also, after 2 years, you can change employers without any problems.
Marriage. Legalizing a relationship with a German citizen is better in Germany – this will raise fewer questions with officials during the move. To apply for a fiancée visa, you must not be related to your potential German spouse, have no criminal record, and be of legal age.
To obtain a residence permit in Germany, the foreign spouse must confirm German language proficiency at level A1. In addition, the family must have living space (rented or owned). Three years of marriage guarantee obtaining permanent residence in Germany.
Return of ethnic Germans to their homeland.
After the end of World War II, many ethnic Germans remained in Belarus, who have the right to return to their historical homeland. All they need to do is submit documents to the embassy confirming their German origin and demonstrate language proficiency at level A1.
The Jewish line. The German government is responsible for the actions of the Nazis during the Second World War. In addition to benefits, Jews can expect to be given permission to move. Their close relatives and family members can also receive the right to emigrate.
As in the previous case, you will need to prove that you belong to the Jewish nation and have a minimum command of German. Jews born before January 1, 1941, do not need to know the language.
The provision of asylum. You can leave as a refugee. But the immigration wave of refugees has so overwhelmed Germany that many agencies cannot cope with such a flow. While the documents are being processed, potential refugees live according to this status. Obtaining the status involves collecting a large package of papers and providing evidence that the persecution in the applicant's homeland is indeed taking place. If the decision is positive, potential refugees will remain in Germany, and if the decision is negative, they will be deported.
Important! Please note that you cannot obtain a residence permit through the purchase of real estate in Germany. But the fact that it is available significantly increases the chances of obtaining a residence permit.
