    What do I need to travel to Ukraine from Belarus?

    Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, many Belarusians are forced to travel to other countries from time to time — this may be necessary for work or to visit relatives. One of the most frequent countries to travel to is Ukraine. We look at what documents need to be collected and what information you need to know before travelling to a neighbouring country to avoid problems when crossing the border.

    We inform you that due to the spread of the Delta strain, Decree No. 954 of the CMU dated September 13, 2021, introduced amendments to Decree No. 1236 of December 9, 2020. The document comes into force on September 20, 2021.

    The changes предполагают the following:

    1. For the trip to take place, you will need health insurance that will be valid for the entire period of stay in Ukraine and, if necessary, will cover the cost of treatment for coronavirus.

    Also, the traveller must have ONE OF the following documents:

    2.1 a certificate of completion of a full course of COVID-19 vaccination with vaccines approved by the World Health Organization (allowed: BioNTech / Pfizer, AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Moderna). The certificate must be in English or have a translation.

    2.2 A negative coronavirus test result. Remember that no more than 72 hours should pass from the moment of testing to the moment of border crossing. A PCR test or an antigen rapid test is also allowed (not to be confused with an antibody test!).

    2.3 COVID recovery certificate.

    There is no need to present a certificate to children under 12 years of age and those who reside in Ukraine, i.e. those who have permanent residence in this country.

    Who and in what cases can not comply with self-isolation upon arrival in Ukraine?

    - those who leave the country within 72 hours of arrival, including transit passengers;

    - foreigners who have a COVID-19 recovery certificate;

    - foreigners under 18 years of age;

    - those vaccinated with one of the following drugs: BioNTech / Pfizer, AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria), Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Sinovac, Moderna;

    - those who received a negative PCR test or rapid antigen test result within 72 hours of entering Ukraine;

    - and others.

    Important: the test you took before departing to Ukraine does not exempt you from the need to self-isolate!

    Foreign citizens and Ukrainians who do not have a vaccination certificate (the list of vaccines is given above) must install the "Vdoma" app. If a foreigner refuses to install the "Vdoma" app upon entry, they will be denied entry into the country.

    After you install the "Vdoma" app, the countdown for 72 hours will start, during which you can take another PCR test or rapid antigen test (already on Ukrainian territory). If this test shows a negative result (thus confirming that you are not sick), you will be automatically removed from monitoring in the "Vdoma" app and self-isolation will be lifted. If you do not take the test or it shows a positive result, you will need to self-isolate for 10 days (it will start 72 hours after arriving in Ukraine). Isolation compliance will be monitored through the same "Vdoma" app.

    Foreigners who come to Ukraine for transit purposes and can provide documents confirming departure from the country within 48 hours do not have to self-isolate and are exempt from installing the "Vdoma" app and testing in Ukraine.

    Take care of yourself, follow all safety measures when traveling.
