To Italy with love
Italians are famous for their fiery temperament, explosive character, and emotionality. Many poems and songs have been written about their passion. Representatives of any other nationality could envy their ability to court a girl so beautifully and romantically. And finally, the long-awaited miracle has happened – an Italian is proposing marriage. The delight and euphoria will pass, and then it will be time to delve into all the nuances of marrying an Italian. The employees of the hotline for safe travel, stay abroad, and combating human trafficking of the Club of Business Women will help sort this out.
Collecting information about the necessary documents
Depending on the city in Italy where the wedding will take place, there may be differences in the paperwork. Therefore, the first step is to contact the commune of the city where your future spouse is registered. They will explain the marriage registration process and give you a list of all the necessary documents. In most cases, a valid visa, passport, and a certificate confirming the absence of obstacles to marriage (Nulla Osta) are required. There is no special visa for weddings; a tourist or visitor visa will do.
Nulla Osta certificate

You can only get it at the Belarusian consulate in Italy. First, you need to make an appointment and pay the consular fee. At the appointed time, come with your documents. Nulla Osta will be issued within the same day.
On the Nulla Osta, you need to affix an official stamp (marca da bollo) and then take the document to the prefecture at your place of residence for apostille (i.e., legalization), the procedure is paid. As a rule, the apostilled Nulla Osta is issued in three days. The validity period of the certificate of absence of obstacles to marriage is 180 days.

Submitting the application
After the above actions, the documents of the future spouses are submitted to the commune at the place of registration of the groom/bride. An application for marriage is written. Information about the upcoming wedding is posted on the commune's website or on the notice board. After publication, 11 days must pass, 8 for familiarization, and 3 for filing a protest. If no objections to the marriage are raised during this period, a date for the ceremony is set. You are given 180 days to register the marriage.
Wedding
The date and place of the wedding are set in your commune. In Italy, there is both a church and a civil wedding. Both types have the same force. On the appointed day, the future spouses exchange vows and wedding rings, sign the certificate in the presence of the mayor/civil registry officer, two witnesses, and an interpreter if one of the spouses does not speak Italian.
Church Ceremony
A wedding in a Catholic church has the legal force of a civil wedding and can serve as a substitute for registration in the municipality. The priest reads both prayers and the Italian Civil Code. Wedding is prohibited if the newlywed is under 21 years of age, is not Catholic, or has already been married. If the spouses raise their children in the Catholic faith, then the difference in religion is not an obstacle.
Before entering into a church marriage, the couple must complete a two-month course. They will not perform the ceremony without a certificate of the sacrament of anointing and baptism, proof that the partner is not bound by the ties of a church marriage.
Italy — Second Home
After getting married, you can apply for a residence permit, which allows you to stay in Italy "for family reasons" for 5 years, and after just 2 years of marriage, you can request Italian citizenship.
It Didn't Work Out
If you decide to divorce, you will have to wait a long time for the divorce — 3 years. Be prepared for the fact that you will not be able to return to your homeland with your children.
The advantages include the fact that after a divorce, the man must support his ex-wife until she remarries.
