    "We receive messages": questions about issuing and replacing passports for Belarusians in Turkey (including children)

    Turkey is one of the popular countries for immigration. We receive questions about issuing and replacing passports — for example, is it possible to do this while not being at home? We answer some of them.

    Since September 1, 2021, biometric documents will be issued in the Republic of Belarus for identity verification:

    - identification smart cards (plastic ID cards) — for internal use in the Republic of Belarus;

    - passports (passport books) — for traveling abroad and entering the Republic of Belarus.

    From this date, Belarusian diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad (in this case, the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Turkey) will stop accepting documents for issuing or replacing the current passport.

    Citizens who have not registered permanent residence abroad (that is, they have ordinary passports of the domestic series (not RR), the issuance of an ID card and a biometric passport for the first time will be carried out by the internal affairs bodies in Belarus. This means that it will be impossible to obtain such a passport at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Turkey.

    Passports of the current sample will remain valid until the expiration of their validity period.

    For those Belarusians who have obtained a passport of the RR series and are on permanent consular registration (those who have registered permanent residence abroad), the initial issuance of an ID card and a biometric passport will be carried out at foreign institutions of the Republic of Belarus.

    More information can be found here.

    If you want your child to arrive in the Republic of Belarus as a citizen of the Republic of Belarus, they need to obtain a Return Certificate at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Turkey, and upon arriving in Belarus, obtain a passport of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus. In this case, medical care for the child will be provided free of charge. You can also get advice on this issue on the hotline of the State Border Committee of the Republic of Belarus +375172162612
