    The "Q&A" section. Questions about employment and stay of Russians in Belarus

    In this section, we publish answers to popular questions that come to the hotline. Today we will look at whether a Russian citizen can work in the Republic of Belarus without temporary registration, how to legally find employment and arrange stay in Belarus.

    Citizens of the Russian Federation do not need to obtain a special permit to work in Belarus. Russians have equal rights to employment, wages, and equal pay as Belarusians.

    Russia and Belarus have concluded an Agreement on ensuring equal rights for citizens of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus to freedom of movement, choice of place of stay and residence in the territories of the member states of the Union State, so citizens of the Russian Federation can legally stay in Belarus for 90 days from the date of entry. During this time, registration is not required for Russians in the country.

    Citizens of Russia can stay in Belarus for up to 90 days and look for work and get employed, both under a contract and an employment contract, without any registration. Before the 90 days expire (immediately after a citizen of Russia is legally employed), you can contact the migration service at the place of stay in the Republic of Belarus and submit documents for temporary residence permit, attaching the necessary list of documents. Since Russians can only obtain temporary residence with a valid reason, legal employment will be such a reason.

    The employer will need to provide:

    - an identity document;

    - a work record book (except for those who are employed for the first time and part-time workers);

    - a diploma or other educational document confirming the right to perform this work.

    A permit for temporary residence is issued by the department of citizenship and migration at the place of temporary residence for one year, even if the citizen of Russia has an indefinite employment contract. Obtaining a permit for temporary residence in the Republic of Belarus is confirmed by the stamp "Dazvol na chasovae prazhynanne", which is issued in accordance with the procedure established by the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. After the expiration of one year, if there is an employment contract with a Belarusian employer, it is necessary to re-submit documents for temporary residence.

    A Russian citizen will need to provide the following to the department of citizenship and migration:

    - an application for temporary residence;

    - a Russian passport;

    - a housing rental agreement (it is necessary to formalize a rental agreement for residential premises with the owner of the apartment/house) or a certificate of registration of ownership of residential premises (if any);

    - an employment contract with the employer;

    - a receipt for payment of the state fee.

    Russian citizens who work in Belarus under employment contracts are serviced on an equal footing with Belarusians.
