One of the most popular inquiries to the hotline 8-801-201-5555 or 113 lately is: Can I travel to Belarus for the May holidays in my own car from Russia? Visiting Belarus for the May holidays is a tradition for many, and guests living near the border are wondering if they can prepare to visit Belarus comfortably in their own car. To find out who is currently allowed to leave the Russian Federation in their own car, you need to visit the website of the FSB Border Service of the Russian Federation. In the section "Exit from the Russian Federation is possible for citizens of the Russian Federation of the following categories." It contains information about persons who are allowed to leave the Russian Federation through road checkpoints, i.e., in a private car or bus.

Currently, citizens of the Russian Federation can travel to Belarus by car/bus only if they are traveling:

    - for medical treatment,

    - to sick close relatives in need of care,

    - to the funeral of a close relative,

    - to a family member (spouses, parents, children, adoptive parents, adopted children), guardians and trustees of individuals, including foreign citizens living outside Russia,

    - for work,

    - to their permanent place of residence (have another citizenship or residence permit or other valid document confirming the right to permanent residence in Belarus),

    - for the purpose of obtaining education.

For each of these purposes, you must have a confirming document (copy of the document), which will need to be presented at the checkpoint. You must also have a passport and a certificate with a negative PCR test, valid for no more than 72 hours at the time of entry into the Republic of Belarus. Get health insurance, as for Russian tourists, after the threat to life is eliminated, further medical assistance is provided on a paid basis.

If you do not meet any of the above categories, you cannot enter Belarus through road checkpoints (by car or bus).

However, there is no need to despair. You can consider traveling to Belarus by other means of transport: for example, by train or plane. Citizens of the Russian Federation will need to have a negative PCR test when crossing the border (taken no earlier than 72 hours before entering Belarus). A 10-day self-isolation period for arrivals from Russia is currently not required.
