Avoiding traps. How not to get into a mess while on vacation

For many scammers, deceiving tourists has become akin to a national sport. Gullible and inexperienced travelers are seen by fraudsters as easy prey. To prevent con artists from ruining your vacation,
before you leave, we suggest familiarizing yourself with the most common types of tricks that tourists fall for.
Fake waiter
The scheme involves 2 waiters and 2 menus. The first waiter brings the menu. You decide on the dishes and call the waiter. The order is taken by the second employee of the establishment. After the meal, you ask for the check and are horrified at the tidy sum, because it simply cannot be! You demand the menu to compare prices. They kindly provide you with the menu, though a different one. The prices in it correspond to your check. You are indignant and call the first waiter. But he is nowhere to be found. You have lost and are forced to pay. Ask not to take away the menu, but to leave it on the table.
Do not hesitate, try
Does the seller hospitably offer to taste his edible products, completely free of charge? Don't fall for it. If you don't buy anything from him, there is a high probability that you will be charged for everything you ate.
Counterfeit bills
A police officer approaches you and explains that gangsters have spread illegal currency in the city. An interception plan has been announced – it is necessary to show money for inspection for counterfeit bills. During a thorough search, the law enforcement officer will detect violations and substitute your bills with counterfeit ones. It's easy to resist this. Firstly, do not give your money and documents to anyone. Secondly, demand to be taken to the station and have all manipulations done there.
Pay extra for entry or photography
A tourist came to see the attraction, but then someone appears demanding money for a ticket or for photos. There's no need to panic and reach for your wallet right away. Ask to show identification or point to a sign with information about paid services.
Photo for memory
A scammer offers to take a photo of you with your own camera. Flash, a moment, and the would-be photographer with your camera is already flashing his heels in the crowd. If you really want a group photo for memory's sake, ask for help from other tourists like yourself, and refuse spontaneous offers.
Broken meter

Another favorite trick of taxi drivers. It's widespread; often, a taxi driver agrees to take you anywhere, but as soon as you drive a few meters, the driver will claim that the meter is broken and charge an exorbitant price for the ride. Always ask if the meter is working or agree on the fare before getting into the car.
Of course, this is not a complete list of schemes to deceive tourists. The ingenuity and imagination of fraudsters are enviable, but knowing even a few "traps" will help you understand how scammers operate, and thus avoid trouble.
