"Mom, I want to go to an international camp this summer…"
How to organize a vacation for children so that the child can visit a foreign country, improve their health, get a lot of impressions, learn something new, relax, and all this is safe?
These and other questions were answered by Larisa Nikolaevna Istomova, the chairwoman of the NGO "Club of Business Women", the head of the hotline for safe departure and stay abroad

All these tasks can be solved by a summer camp, says Larisa Nikolaevna. When choosing an international children's camp, it is necessary to take into account the child's interests, because a lot depends on this, for example, whether they will like it there. Be sure to study what a particular camp offers and what its focus is: language, sports, thematic, etc.
Larisa Nikolaevna advises to contact a travel company that will help you choose a suitable camp, as "more often it is more reliable," she says. - But remember that you need to contact a trusted tour operator. Ask your friends, friends and relatives about the best tour operator, try to look for reviews about the company on the Internet. It is worth adding that it is travel companies that most often collaborate with experienced teachers, on whom it depends whether your child will like the camp or not. Ask the tour operator all the questions you are interested in:
- what kind of camp it is,
- how children are fed,
- what the daily routine is,
- what program it provides,
- how long the shift lasts,
- how parents communicate with children,
- what language will be used to communicate with children,
- do the teachers know the child's native language,
- how safe the camp is, etc.
- how children get to the camp or who meets them in the host country.
What documents are required?
If you arrange a trip through a tour operator, says Larisa Nikolaevna, they usually take care of all documentation issues. And if you decide to send your child to camp on your own, below I will give you a sample list of documents; for more accurate information, you need to contact the embassy of the country to which you are sending your child.
So, it's no secret that nowadays in order for a child to be able to travel safely, they need
A passport that must be valid for at least 3 months after the child's return. If you have chosen a country with a visa regime, you need a visa. To do this, you should take care of obtaining it in advance.
Also, you must have a notarized consent from the parents for the minor's departure.
In what cases do you need to have consent from one or both parents for the child's departure?
If the child is traveling with one of the parents, the consent of the second parent is not required. But be sure to check that the child is listed in your passport, otherwise take the birth certificate with you.
If the child is traveling with a relative, you must have the consent of both parents.
If the child is traveling as part of an organized group for rehabilitation, then the consent of only one parent is required.
If your child is traveling as part of an organized group on an excursion, for example, then you must have the consent of both parents.
If you do not want to apply for a new exit permit for your child each time, you can apply for consent once before the child reaches adulthood to travel to any country in the world. Consent for the child's departure is issued by a notary or at the citizenship and migration department of the internal affairs body at the place of residence.
If an orphan child or a child left without parental care is traveling abroad with guardians or without their accompaniment but with their written consent for the minor's departure, the following documents are required:
- a copy of the order of the local department (department) of education on permission for the minor to leave for a certain period (the copy is certified with the seal and signature of the head of the local education department);
- an extract from the decision of the local executive and administrative body on granting the minor the status of an orphan or a child left without parental care (the extract is stamped by the body that issued the decision)
The departure of minors from the Republic of Belarus for rehabilitation, sanatorium-and-spa treatment, or medical care is regulated by Article 14 of the Law of September 20, 2009, No. 49-Z "On the procedure for departure from the Republic of Belarus and entry into the Republic of Belarus of citizens of the Republic of Belarus".
Important! Don't forget to get health insurance for your child in case of unforeseen circumstances.
How to keep your child safe when you're not around?
How to prepare your child for traveling abroad? What to tell them about safety? We'll tell you about the most important things not to forget!
- First, find out if your child really wants to go to camp abroad. To make sure they enjoy the trip, tell them about the camp and the country they're going to.
- Remind your child about personal hygiene rules, as well as the need to wear a hat when going outside to avoid heatstroke.
- Tell your child about traffic rules, what is allowed on the road and what is not.
- Don't forget to discuss with your child what to do and how to behave in emergency situations.
- Give your child a mobile phone and connect roaming so they can contact you.
- Give your child a small phrasebook in case they don't know the language of the country they're going to.
