It's harmful not to dream! Or: what did a young couple face when they decided to go and work in Germany?
It's no secret that many Belarusians go to work abroad. Even taking into account the current situation with the pandemic, people are still looking for ways to improve their standard of living and find opportunities to cross borders to get a job in another country. This is confirmed by the statistics of the hotline of the NGO "Club of Business Women". Calls related to employment abroad are received on the hotline every day.

Victoria and her boyfriend Dmitry are a young couple full of vitality and energy. The young man recently returned from the army. The girl has finished a service industry college and worked as a hairdresser in a salon for a year. She is sure that with such a skill, she can смело go to any country, because hairdressers are needed everywhere. After waiting for Dmitry from the army, the girl insisted on going to Germany with him to work. In Brest, nothing is holding the young people back, and the girl's mother lives in Germany and is ready to help the couple get settled at first.
But the illusory dreams of going abroad shatter when it comes to real actions and all the issues with documents. To go to work in Germany, you need to receive an official invitation from an employer. At this stage, Victoria's mother got involved. She helped find a verified employer who sent an invitation to Victoria and Dmitry to work. After they received the invitation, the young people went to the visa center. But even at this stage, difficulties arose. The queue to the visa center is booked two months in advance. And the couple simply didn't have time to physically make it to Germany by the planned date.
Victoria and Dmitry did not get discouraged and decided to use plan "B". Since the couple was настроилась on going abroad, their plan "B" was Poland. It was in neighboring Poland that they wanted to stay and work for a while, and then make plans for Germany. But even there, the young people were faced with difficulties. When traveling to Poland, you must spend 10 days in quarantine. A dubious way to protect yourself from COVID, because staying in a hostel with ten different people, it's hard to be sure that none of them is already sick. But these are the conditions for crossing the border.
Victoria and Dmitry realize that they will be able to get from Poland to Germany. In addition, Poland is part of the EU, which simplifies the conditions for crossing the border. But they also understand that they will have to work illegally, and this is a big risk of being deceived.
REMINDER: in Germany, on March 1, 2020, a new Law "On the Immigration of Skilled Workers" came into force, which creates more favorable conditions for the targeted increase in the influx of qualified specialists from countries outside the European Union into Germany.
