Belarusian Land in the Iranian Heart

Thousands of international students graduate from Belarusian universities every year. They choose a wide variety of specialties. Many students return to their homeland after graduation. Others pursue their profession in Belarus.

A citizen of Iran wrote to the hotline of the NGO "Club of Business Women" 113; 8-801-201-5555. The graduate of BSMU (Belarusian State Medical University) is receiving a higher pharmaceutical education and plans to undergo internship. He is in Belarus on the basis of temporary residence for the purpose of study. The young man is interested in what he needs to complete his internship and for further employment in Belarus, as he wants to connect his life with Belarus, which he really likes. During his studies, he made friends, to whom he became attached and with whom he spent the happiest and most carefree student years. And although the young man was often drawn to his homeland, Belarus will remain in his heart forever.

Nim was born in Tabriz. He decided to enter Belarus on the recommendation of his older brother. The first year was especially difficult for the young man. A foreign country, a new language, a difficult program to master. But the hardest part is behind him. Now Nim will undergo internship.

The young man, like other international students in Belarus, needs to know that they can extend their stay in the Republic of Belarus on the basis of an employment contract for the period of internship. If they wish to extend their work activities in Belarus after completing their internship, and in order not to obtain a special permit for employment, Nim needs to find a job within one year after receiving his specialty and qualification.

Foreigners who wish to work in Belarus, who did not study at Belarusian universities, or missed the one-year period after receiving their specialty and qualification, can work subject to obtaining a special permit and concluding an employment contract. What is a special permit?

However, according to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, which entered into force on January 1, 2015, workers from the following states carry out labor activities with an employment or civil law contract without obtaining a special permit (paragraph 1 of Article 97):

    - Russian Federation,

    - Republic of Kazakhstan,

    - The Republic of Armenia,

    - The Kyrgyz Republic,

    - Foreign citizens with a residence permit in the Republic of Belarus, heads of foreign organizations' representative offices and refugees.

In July 2020, a new version of the Law of the Republic of Belarus dated January 4, 2010, No. 105-Z "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens and Stateless Persons in the Republic of Belarus" (hereinafter referred to as the Law on Foreigners or the Law) comes into force. Some of them can be viewed here.
