Went into debt
Every year, hundreds of foreigners visit our country. They come to different parts of Belarus, each with their own goals and interests. Some enroll in higher education institutions, others meet online and come to see their loved one in person. Some foreigners come to the country for work. Among them was Azat from Kazakhstan. He came to Belarus back in February 2020. He planned to work here, but circumstances changed and the job fell through. Due to the epidemic and debts, he still cannot return to his homeland. His family is waiting for him at home. His wife and four children. The youngest child is only one year old.
Leaving for Belarus was not a whim, but a necessity. A lot was expected from the breadwinner. No one expected the situation to turn 360 degrees and for Azat not only to fail to earn money, but also to be unable to pay for accommodation at the hostel.
He owes a decent amount to the hostel for accommodation. Now he lives on borrowed money.
He turned to the national hotline 88012015555 of the NGO "Club of Business Women" for safe travel and stay abroad and combating human trafficking for help.
"Now I am staying in a hostel in Minsk. When I found myself in this situation, I contacted the hotline of the NGO 'Club of Business Women'. Here they explained to me that there is an International Organization for Migration in Belarus, which helps foreign citizens return to their homeland. Provides them with assistance. The hotline operator asked me carefully about my current situation, filled out a form and sent it to the International Organization for Migration for assistance. The same evening, a representative of the International Organization for Migration contacted me to discuss the details of providing assistance."
Attention to foreign citizens in the territory of the Republic of Belarus in need of assistance in returning to their homeland

The Representation of the International Organization for Migration, in partnership with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Committee, implements a program to facilitate the voluntary return and reintegration of migrants.
Assistance is provided within the framework of the EU project "Assistance to the Republic of Belarus in addressing issues related to the increase in the number of irregular migrants", implemented by IOM in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Border Committee, in partnership with UNHCR, the NGO "Belarusian Movement of Medical Workers" and the Belarusian Red Cross Society.
The program can be attended by foreign citizens. Due to the current epidemiological situation, the target audience of the program is the most vulnerable categories of migrants who voluntarily want to return to their homeland and do not currently have the financial means to leave Belarus independently. Among those affected is Azat.
As Larisa Istomova, head of the NGO "Business Women's Club", comments: "Migrants who find themselves in a difficult situation turn to the National Hotline 8-801-201-5555. These are foreign citizens who cannot leave Belarus for various reasons. Hotline specialists inform clients about the program. After that, the organizations consider each individual case. Participants of this program are provided with humanitarian assistance based on their current situation, and, if necessary, they are organized to return to their homeland. Currently, Azat is already at home in Kazakhstan."
