    Q&A: Belarusians abroad. Reasons for annulment of residence permits, obtaining a visitor visa to Turkey

    Can a Belarusian have their residence permit cancelled if they are officially employed by a Lithuanian company but have not been paid for more than 3 months?

    No, because non-payment of wages to a foreigner is not a reason for cancellation of the residence permit.

    Reasons why temporary residence permit in Lithuania issued in connection with the employment of a foreigner can be cancelled:

    • the employment contract has expired and was not extended;

    • you were denied a work permit or your employment contract was terminated;

    • your stay in the country poses a threat to national security or public order.

    To find out more information on this issue, you can contact the migration service at the place where the residence permit was issued in Lithuania.

    I have a Turkish work visa. How many days after its expiration can I enter Turkey under the tourist visa-free regime for Belarusian citizens?

    Staying in Turkey on a work visa does not count towards the visa-free regime, so you can come to Turkey the very next day after your work visa expires.

    Please note: citizens of the Republic of Belarus can stay continuously in Turkey without a visa for 30 days from the date of entry. The total period of stay in Turkey should not exceed 90 days per year from the date of first entry.

    For more detailed information, you can contact the Turkish embassy in Minsk. Address: Volodarsky Street, 6, 220030 Minsk, Belarus.

    I live in Turkey and want to make an invitation to the country for my mother, a citizen of Belarus, to obtain a visitor visa. What do I need to do?

    If you want to invite your mom for more than 30 days, then she will really need a visitor visa (you can stay in Turkey without a visa for up to 30 days at a time). You can get such a visa at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in the Republic of Belarus.

    To get a visitor visa, you will need an invitation from a relative with Turkish citizenship, a person with a residence permit, a medical or educational institution, etc. You can arrange it at the Department for Foreigners of the Security Directorate (Emniyet Müdürlüğü Yabancılar Şube Müdürlüğü).

    There are two types of invitations: when all expenses are borne by the host party and when the expenses are borne by the guest (that is, your mom). The expenses include accommodation, round-trip tickets, and health insurance. If your mom will cover the expenses, then you will need to attach certificates from her official place of work to the package of documents.

    When applying for an invitation, you will need to provide your personal data from your passport, the address where your mom will stay, the day of her arrival, and an additional purpose of the trip (for example, visiting museums). In addition, to prove your kinship, you will need to attach your birth certificate.

    The main documents required to obtain a visitor visa:

    1. application;

    2. original invitation (not a copy!);

    3. valid passport issued no more than 10 years ago (there should be 2-3 blank pages, validity period after return at least 6 months);

    4. photocopies of the main pages of the passports;

    5. receipt of payment of the fee;

    photos (2 pieces, taken no later than 6 months before submission in accordance with the established rules).

    Calls and written inquiries are temporarily not accepted. Use the information posted on our website!
