1. UAE
Since February 19, Belavia has opened flights to Dubai, and since January 16, Belarusians can enter the UAE without a visa, so this country can also be considered for отдых. To enter, you need to take a PCR test 96 hours before departure and have a certificate with a negative result. Please note: some passengers may be asked to take a PCR test at the airport in the UAE. You also need health insurance for the entire period of stay.
Prices from tour operators start from $1300 for 7 nights for two with breakfast. Please note: the UAE is a Muslim country, so the laws there can be very different from ours, as can the fines, so it's better to read about the risks and culture of this country in advance.
If the flight from the UAE was direct, self-isolation is not required in Belarus upon return.
2. Tanzania, Zanzibar Island
Another pleasant place for vacation on the coast is Zanzibar Island. Belarusians do not need a PCR test to enter, but they will need to obtain a visa, which costs $50, payable upon arrival (tour operators do not include it in the package price). Prices from tour operators start from $700 for 7 nights per person with breakfast.
There are no direct flights from Belarus to Zanzibar, so you will have to fly via Kyiv or Istanbul.
What is the situation in Zanzibar now?
It may seem surprising, but masks, sanitizers, and social distancing are not used in Zanzibar. Locals believe that their skin protects them from coronavirus. Malaria is another matter, but the risk is much lower now that it's not the rainy season. However, please note: pharmacies have rapid tests and necessary medications for this disease.
After returning to Belarus via Turkey or Ukraine, self-isolation for 10 days is required, so be prepared to extend your vacation by this period.
3. Maldives
Belarusians do not need a visa to the Maldives, but they do need a negative PCR test 96 hours before departure. There are no direct flights from Belarus to the Maldivian beaches, flights are operated via Istanbul or Kyiv. The Maldives are not the cheapest destination. Prices start from $2250 for 7 nights with breakfast.
After returning to Belarus, self-isolation for 10 days is required in any case, regardless of which country a person transited through. The Maldives are in the "Red Zone".
4. Brazil
A more distant and exotic option for travelers. To enter Brazil, since December 30, 2020, before boarding the aircraft, you must provide a negative PCR test performed no later than 72 hours before the date of boarding the flight to Brazil (the test must be in Portuguese, Spanish, or English) and health insurance valid in Brazil and covering the entire stay. Children under 12 years old do not need a PCR test. A traveler's health declaration is also required. Usually, people fly from Belarus to Brazil via Paris.
After returning to Belarus, self-isolation for 10 days is required.
5. Mexico
Another distant option for Belarusian travelers. Belarusians can go to Mexico, no PCR test is required. You will need to apply for visas (tourist, national, or multiple-entry Schengen). In addition, to enter Mexico, you must obtain insurance that will cover COVID-19 treatment and transportation evacuation. Flights are operated via Paris or Frankfurt.
These destinations, Brazil and Mexico, have something in common: the cost of отдых. The flight from Belarus will cost a lot of money, and including the tour, you can pay from $5000—6000 for 7 days for two. Even tour operators say that these destinations are unprofitable due to their price.
But, as they say, forewarned is forearmed. Therefore, let's consider some prices that experienced travelers talk about: a hotel room costs $2300 per month. If you cook on your own, groceries will cost about $240 per week. The flight from Minsk via Istanbul to Mexico costs about $3250 (two adults, one child). You can get a Mexican visa — it's not difficult, but you will need income certificates.
What is the current situation in Mexico?
Mexico is quite strict with coronavirus: only two passengers are allowed in taxis and only if wearing masks, temperatures are taken and hands are disinfected in stores, and small children are not allowed there at all. After returning to Belarus, self-isolation for 10 days is required.
