Preventive measures against HIV/AIDS
Global HIV/AIDS epidemic is one of the largest problems which our generation faces. Due to the advance of epidemic, the level of consequences, AIDS epidemic can be called world’s disaster. The first medical case of AIDS was diagnosed in 1981. Since then the world has been making efforts to realize the level of the disaster. 20 million of people died of AIDS during these 20 years. Approximately 37.8 million people (diapason from 34.6 to 42.3 million people) live nowadays with HIV. Unfortunately we are observing the advance of epidemic which destroys lives of people and delivers damage to the society structure.
Nevertheless there are some preventive measures which can help to stop an advance of epidemic. Among them one can mention leading a healthy way of life, keeping informed about the problem and paying attention to the preventive measures.
Epidemiologic situation on HIV-infection in the Republic of Belarus as on 1st July, 2014.
As on 1st July, 2014 in the Republic of Belarus there were registered 16617 medical cases of HIV-infection. The quantity of people living with HIV – 12876, prevalence is 136.1 on 100000 of population. It has been identified 906 infected since the beginning of 2014 period – 6 months ( 6 months of 2013 – 735 infected).
Epidemiologic situation on HIV-infection in Brest Area as on 1st July, 2014.
As on 1st July, 2014 cumulative number of HIV-infected in Brest area (over the period of statistical accounting since 1989 to 01.07.2014) is equaled 1317 cases or 94.8 on 100000 of population. 83 medical cases of HIV-infection has been educed during 6 months, it equals 6.0 on 100000 people (6 months 0f 2013 – 70 cases or 5,0 on 100000, the increase 18,6%).
